I shared my inventory with my sponsor yesterday. Since I was already there, and I hadn’t done it, I went ahead and shared my story too. The energy it takes to do something like that is astonishing. You’re just talking, but, for me, there’s something about telling the stories and discussing what they did to me, then and now, that is mentally draining.
Sponsor to wrap things up in a very sensible way. The things you shared don’t have a hold on you anymore. The devil is going to try and bring them up to you over and over, put it out of your mind. God has forgiven you, your wife has forgiven you and you forgave yourself. Now that you’ve shared it, there’s nothing left to be condemned for. Hold your head high. You’re a new creation.
A good deal of our meeting sucked. It was painful, difficult and certainly draining. It was also freeing. I think the most important thing, though, is I truly do feel a weight has been released. I had entered recovery about a month before. Sharing my story and inventory was, yet another, massive step for me.
