Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2 NIV)
At the bible study I went to this evening, that verse above was discussed for a moment but quickly passed over. I think it’s a spectacular word to me.
For the past 24 hours I have been enduring tremendous pain. Even though I KNOW in my heart if hearts My Bride wishes to be with me, there is terrible pain. I know that she is also enduring serious pain. Since we have separated I have been relieved of my pains a majority of the time. She, however, has had no relief. Just last night she told me she feels only pain and sorrow.
We have both let ourselves focus on earthly things; the past state of our marriage. The things that caused pain within us are in the past. God is doing a work on me. The old man is dead.
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. (Colossians 3:5-10 NIV)
I have committed myself to my walk with God. I have put to death, or am process of killing, the immorality, impurities and evils I have allowed in.
I am putting on the new self!
